Tenance is a platform in Tanzania for finding and managing homes and stays, booking rides, hiring home-service professionals, buying furniture, and managing vehicles. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who sees it, and the choices you have. We handle your data in line with Tanzania's Personal Data Protection Act, 2022.
1. What we collect
- Account details: name, email address, phone number, role (for example tenant, landlord, driver, vehicle owner), language and profile photo.
- Activity you create: property listings, enquiries, viewing and booking requests, messages, reviews, jobs and bids, furniture listings and orders, hesabu (vehicle remittance) records, expenses and invoices.
- Location: approximate or precise location when you use maps, ride booking, driver availability or live ride tracking. Drivers can share location in the background while online or on a trip. You control this in your device settings.
- Identity and vehicle documents: drivers and some sellers upload ID documents, a live photo and vehicle ownership documents so we can verify them. These are stored privately and visible only to you and authorised Tenance staff.
- Payments: payment status and references from our mobile-money provider. We do not store your mobile-money PIN or card details.
- Technical data: device type, app version, push-notification token, and basic usage and error logs used to keep the service secure and working.
2. Why we use it
- To run the service you asked for: show listings, connect you with landlords, drivers, professionals and makers, process bookings and payments, and send receipts and notifications.
- To keep the platform safe: verify identities, detect fraud and fake listings (including with automated AI checks), prevent abuse and resolve disputes.
- To improve Tenance: aggregate, de-identified statistics such as which areas have demand.
- To meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
3. Who can see your data
- Other users, only as needed. For example a landlord sees the details in an enquiry you send; a rider and driver see each other's name, photo and live trip location during a ride. A landlord's phone number is revealed only after a viewing is scheduled.
- Service providers that process data for us under agreement: Google Firebase / Google Cloud (hosting, database, authentication, storage, messaging and AI features), our mobile-money payment provider (AzamPay), and messaging providers.
- Authorities when the law requires it.
- We do not sell your personal data.
4. Where it is stored and how long
Data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure, which may be located outside Tanzania; we use providers that apply appropriate security safeguards. We keep data while your account is active and as long as needed for the purposes above, for legal, tax and dispute reasons, and then delete or anonymise it.
5. Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, rules that limit each user to their own data, bot protection and monitoring. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong password and never share your verification codes.
6. Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. You can also make a complaint to the Personal Data Protection Commission of Tanzania. To exercise a right, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity first, and some records must be kept by law.
7. Children
Tenance is not intended for people under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. If the changes are significant we will tell you in the app. The date at the top shows the latest version.

Tenance ni jukwaa la Tanzania la kutafuta na kusimamia nyumba na malazi, kuagiza safari, kuajiri wataalamu wa huduma za nyumbani, kununua samani, na kusimamia vyombo vya usafiri. Sera hii inaeleza data binafsi tunazokusanya, kwa nini, nani anaziona, na uchaguzi ulionao. Tunashughulikia data yako kwa kuzingatia Sheria ya Ulinzi wa Taarifa Binafsi ya Tanzania, 2022.
1. Tunachokusanya
- Taarifa za akaunti: jina, barua pepe, namba ya simu, jukumu lako (mfano mpangaji, mwenye nyumba, dereva, mmiliki wa chombo), lugha na picha ya wasifu.
- Shughuli unazofanya: matangazo ya nyumba, maulizo, maombi ya kuona nyumba na kuhifadhi, ujumbe, tathmini, kazi na zabuni, samani, hesabu za vyombo, gharama na ankara.
- Mahali ulipo: unapotumia ramani, kuagiza safari, upatikanaji wa dereva au ufuatiliaji wa safari. Unaweza kudhibiti hili kwenye mipangilio ya simu yako.
- Nyaraka za utambulisho na chombo: dereva na baadhi ya wauzaji hupakia kitambulisho, picha ya moja kwa moja na nyaraka za umiliki ili tuwahakiki. Huhifadhiwa kwa siri na huonekana kwako na wafanyakazi walioidhinishwa wa Tenance tu.
- Malipo: hali ya malipo na namba za kumbukumbu kutoka kwa mtoa huduma wa pesa za simu. Hatuhifadhi PIN yako wala taarifa za kadi.
- Taarifa za kiufundi: aina ya kifaa, toleo la programu, tokeni ya arifa na kumbukumbu za matumizi na hitilafu.
2. Tunazitumiaje
Kutoa huduma uliyoomba, kuweka jukwaa salama (ikiwemo kugundua udanganyifu kwa ukaguzi wa AI), kuboresha huduma kwa takwimu zisizomtambulisha mtu, na kutimiza matakwa ya kisheria.
3. Nani anaona data yako
Watumiaji wengine kwa kiwango kinachohitajika tu (mfano mwenye nyumba huona maulizo yako; namba ya simu ya mwenye nyumba hufichuliwa tu baada ya kupanga kuiona nyumba). Watoa huduma wanaotuchakatia data chini ya makubaliano (Google Firebase / Google Cloud, AzamPay, watoa huduma za ujumbe). Mamlaka pale sheria inapotaka. Hatuuzi data yako binafsi.
4. Uhifadhi na usalama
Data huhifadhiwa kwenye miundombinu ya Google Cloud, ambayo inaweza kuwa nje ya Tanzania. Tunatumia usimbaji fiche, udhibiti wa ufikiaji na ufuatiliaji. Tunahifadhi data kwa muda inaohitajika kwa madhumuni hayo na mahitaji ya kisheria, kisha kuifuta au kuifanya isimtambulishe mtu.
5. Haki zako
Unaweza kuomba kupata, kusahihisha au kufuta data yako, kuzuia au kupinga uchakataji fulani, na kuondoa ridhaa. Pia unaweza kuwasilisha malalamiko kwa Tume ya Ulinzi wa Taarifa Binafsi ya Tanzania.
6. Watoto na mabadiliko
Tenance si kwa watu walio chini ya miaka 18. Tukibadilisha sera hii kwa kiasi kikubwa tutakujulisha ndani ya programu.
